When your ships are aligned in the lead, they double their firing rate, while side-by-side formation allows both ships to fire simultaneously at half their usual rate. Each ship has a specific role: the Blue Ship targets and destroys blue enemies and can absorb red bullets, whereas the Red Ship targets and destroys red enemies and can absorb blue bullets.
